Characteristics of Godly Living: Truth
Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Characteristics of Godly Living Topic: Truth Passage: 1 Peter 2:1–3
God displays His power through His Word. We are born again by hearing the truth of His gospel, and we grow in respect to salvation as we commit to knowing and doing His will. This new birth makes possible the demands of the new life, and the new life is characterized by a hatred of sin and love for the truth. Believers leave no room for pet sins or hidden idolatries, but lay aside every expression of impurity to be free from the corruption of the flesh. They long for the truth, craving it as the means of their growth in the knowledge and grace of God, and refuse to be satisfied with anything less. How can you know if you are spiritually malnourished? Can you navigate through biblical themes and discern God’s truth from human ingenuity? Do you continually press deeper into the doctrines of God, and are you confident in the transforming power of His Word? If the Scriptures have no power in your life, it’s time to examine your heart. Have you tasted the kindness of God?
