Characteristics of Godly Living: The People of God

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Characteristics of Godly Living Topic: Faith Passage: 1 Peter 2:9–10

Christian, something amazing happened when you were saved. You died. You once lived for yourself and your sin, but now you are a new creation, dead to sin and alive to God through Christ. So it should be no surprise then that God expects us to live in accord with the truth, and to exhort others to do so as well. Yet some struggle with this, believing it is wrong to tell someone how they should live. We must never insist on our own opinions, but we are obligated to encourage one another to holiness. Why? Because believers were chosen by the Father and set apart as His own possession, washed and sanctified so that we may draw others into communion with God. Because believers were chosen to declare the excellencies of Him who called us, and because believers were chosen to receive mercy and should have no desire to live in the darkness from which we were spared. Are you a Christian? Then fulfill love’s obligation to live out the truth, and graciously encourage others to do the same.
