The Gospel is a free gift, but it demands the surrender of our lives so that Jesus has preeminence in all things. He was manifested so that we might live through Christ and demonstrate God's character, and He was sacrificed so that the Father's love would enable sinful men to meet His righteous demands. An effective Gospel, like an effective Christian life, embraces God's love and holiness without diminishing either. Never forget that it was Christ's death that allowed God's love to flow through Him to us. Mourn over your sin, and rejoice in Him who took it away.
