Who Will Deliver Me? Part 3

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Passage: Romans 7:13–25

Can an unregenerate man delight in what is good, even though he can’t perform the good? Even in his fallen state, the unbeliever can recognize and reflect what is good. He is created in the image of God with a conscience that can assess good and evil, and thus he is held responsible for discerning between the two. If that's so, then how does the believer differ from the unbeliever in the struggle with sin? Both can desire to do good, and both can feel guilt when they fall short. The difference is that one is now alive in Christ, and the other is still dead in his sins. The unbeliever struggles apart from faith in Christ, with neither power nor hope. His war is with his accusing conscience, not with sin. The believer is no longer ruled by sin. By the power of the indwelling Spirit of God, he can obey by faith, and according to the hope of the gospel he trusts that his trespasses are covered by grace.
