Who Will Deliver Me? Part 2

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Passage: Romans 7:13–25

The unregenerate man of morals has a problem. The law of God resonates with his informed conscience which in turn accuses him and produces guilt. The more informed his conscience becomes, the greater the burden he may feel, and so the internal war begins. Paul describes this war in excruciating detail in Romans 7:14-25. The law will not bend, and the mind set on the flesh will not yield on its own, and so his problem is brought into sharp focus— the law which he believed would lead him to life instead has led him to death. Does this mean that the law is the problem? Of course not! The law is undeniably good, and when that which is perfectly just is the means of revealing our corruption, it becomes the tutor to show us the true gravity of our sin, and just how powerless we are to change and do what is right. The solution is not the removal of the law, but the removal of sin through the gospel. Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
