Sometimes our fight against sin doesn’t go well. We want to be steadfast in faith, but a string of lost battles with temptation or the difficulty of ongoing trials may leave us feeling weakened and weary. In those seasons, remember that victory isn’t found in simply working up a greater resolve, or finding that one golden Bible verse that will suddenly turn the tide. Victory comes as we humbly depend upon the supremacy of our great High Priest, and as we entrust ourselves to His sympathy and support. His deity ensures His power to help us, His humanity assures His sympathy to care for us, and the perfection of His sacrifice means that we have all the support we need to come before a holy God with confidence.
