God's Program For The Church, Part 12

Pastor: Pastor Eric Borgstrom Passage: 1 Corinthians 3:10–15

A well-known missionary once wrote a poem with the haunting refrain, “Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” It’s a sobering reminder that both time and opportunity are fleeting, and we must pay careful attention to how we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ. In both doctrine and demeanor, a wise and faithful builder only proclaims and practices those things that are consistent with the foundation. His priorities are not the issues of the day, or the vagaries of human wisdom and ideologies, but his deep concern is seeing sinners saved and transformed by the pure and perfect knowledge of Christ. What's more, his motives aren’t darkened by an agenda of self-promotion, but his one ambition is to be pleasing to the Lord and to see Him honored above all. How are you building on the foundation of Jesus Christ? Is it with the wood, hay, and straw, or with gold, silver, and precious stones? Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.
