Building on the Proper Foundation

In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus Christ gives a clear and unambiguous message about hypocrisy, God’s Law, the nature of true salvation, and the way of wisdom. How should we respond to Christ’s words? The answer is simple: be wise and obey Him. The wise man listens intently to the Word of God. He seeks to understand its meaning, and considers how this applies to his current manner of thinking, conduct, and practices. Where he falls short of God’s standard, the wise man works diligently to change and align himself with what he has heard. Cultivating godly wisdom brings peace and stability that will protect us in the inevitable trials of life. What about you? Are you acting in wisdom, engaged in building your life on the truth? Or are you being foolish, pursuing your own desires and leaving spiritual work for another day? Friend, now is the time God has given you to pursue your Lord and do His will.
