Preserving Body Unity

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Special Topic Passage: Ephesians 4:13

There are many ways divisions and factions can rise up in a local church. Members or leaders may differ on some point of doctrine, or find fault with the direction of church ministries. When not dealt with rightly, these differences can become sources of tension and pressure. Of course our desire is for unity, but how can we achieve it? We begin by understanding that unity is not an object to be pursued or manufactured, but is the product of sound doctrine and godly living. Unity is the natural result of the message of truth, and it takes hard work to practice and protect. How do we know if our church is growing more unified? We will see it when believers are growing in the knowledge of Christ and in spiritual maturity. It will be on display in all they do, because Christ is the One for whom they work. And it will be evident in their godly character, because Christ is their standard of measure, the goal toward which they strive, and the only hope in which they trust.
