Christ and Moses, Part 3

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 5:17–5:20

We all have personal and theological biases, and these may be exposed when we wrestle with questions about the connection between the Old and New Covenants, or Christ’s relationship to the Law. The answers will come as we submit our theology and our passions to a consistent, normal, and natural reading of the Bible. Jesus warned against believing and teaching that the Law has been annulled. He affirmed the Law, but He exalted and applied it in a new way. He taught us that the essence of the Law is love for God and love for others. He modeled this love, and then called us to walk in it as we trust Him by faith for our salvation. The call to love is found in the Old Testament, and Christ fulfills this Law of Love and clarifies it as He summarizes the Mosaic Law and explains its true intent. Christians are not bound to the Mosaic Law, but we are most certainly bound to Christ, and He commands us to an obedient life of selfless love.
