How to Give to God

We may profess our love for God and trust in His provision, but how faithful are we when it comes to money? Scripture offers three wise principles for acquiring and managing wealth: God owns it all, He is the one who enables us to earn it all, and our task is to manage it all in a way that advances the Kingdom and brings glory to Him. We are to give unselfishly and willingly, freely sharing with those in need. We are to give sacrificially and bountifully, reflecting the selfless and extravagant generosity of our God. We are to give anonymously and expectantly, seeking the praise and reward of the Lord rather than men. And finally, we are to give cheerfully and in proportion to God’s blessing on us, demonstrating to the world that our real treasure is in heaven. If we truly believe that God owns it all, we will reflect His principles in our stewardship over His possessions. We will come by wealth honestly, pay our debts promptly, and trust only in God to supply our every need.
