The Protection of The King

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 2:19–2:23

Imagine what it must have been like for the parents of the young Jesus. God gave them the privilege of raising the Messiah, only to then learn that King Herod was on a murderous rampage, intent on their son's destruction. Given that the Scriptures say that God has defeated His enemies, why would He allow such evil? Remember that in spite of Herod’s threats, God sovereignly protected Jesus and His parents, and also provided for them through the Magi’s gifts. This demonstrated His power to foil the schemes of men, and encourages our faith as we see God’s tender care for His people. How can we remain faithful through life’s storms? Don’t lose sight of God’s protection, or allow your desire for comfort to overrule your need to trust in Him. Fix your eyes on Christ, believe His promises, and carefully consider how the wisdom of God applies to your circumstances. Then God’s protection for you will become evident. You can’t avoid the pains and difficulties of life, but you can express faith as you walk through them!
