The Submission of the Son

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Jesus is the Christ Topic: Christ Passage: Matthew 1:18–25

In the manger, we see the greatest paradox of all time. The Son of God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the Second Person of the Trinity, born as a helpless babe into the most modest of circumstances. The very One who made the world clothed in human flesh, now willingly subject to the universe that He spoke into existence. This was the greatest act of submission conceivable, planned in eternity past before the worlds were framed, and now it had come to fruition as the Messiah arrived on earth as foretold centuries prior, born of a young virgin. Jesus began His sojourn on the earth in shocking vulnerability, and He humbly and fully trusted in His Father to guard and protect Him. Like our Savior, there are times when we too are called upon to walk by faith and entrust ourselves to the goodness and wisdom of God. When fear tempts you to look for escape or protection, look instead to Christ. Then humbly submit to His Word, and watch as God leads and protects you for His glory.
