The Glory of the Son
Topic: Christ Scripture: Colossians 1:15–1:20
The world is always looking for greatness. The best athlete, the most influential leader, the richest businessman, the list goes on and on. But as the world celebrates those men and women who have achieved some measure of notoriety, one name is always missing from that roll: the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the very image of the invisible God, impeccable in all of His attributes, flawlessly representing to man all of the perfections of the Godhead. He is the firstborn over all creation, eternal God who in His incarnation willingly subjected Himself to human frailty, but who in His glory is pre-eminent over all. He is the Creator, the one through whom all was made, from the smallest subatomic particles, to the vast universe of stars and galaxies. He is the sustainer of all the created order, the perfect Mediator through which man may be forgiven and saved, and the mighty Head of the blood-bought people who bear His name. Show discernment and take warning, all you people of the earth. Take refuge in Him alone and be blessed.
