The Great Exchange, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Good Friday Service Topic: Justification Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:21

We live in amazing times. We have greater access to theological debates, textual manuscripts, and records of various church traditions than any other generation in Church history. But even with this sheer volume of information, the modern Church seems to be more confused about the gospel than ever before. Should we take an Arminian view of salvation, or a Calvinistic one? Are we saved from God’s wrath, or Satan’s? Are we saved to enjoy eternity, or enjoy God? Are we to strive by grace for holiness, or simply rest in grace and dwell on God’s glory? Of course the answers to all of these questions are in God’s Word. The heart of the gospel message is that God saves sinners, and the central pillar is the Doctrine of Justification. This is the high point of God’s redemptive work, the reason why Christ had to be fully man and fully God, and the explanation of how God can be both merciful and yet punish every sin. The God Man as substitute and Savior, rescues helpless sinners. This is the Great Exchange.
