The Parable of the Seed and the Sower, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: The Parables Topic: Faith Passage: Matthew 13:3–9, Matthew 13:18–23

The gospel is the greatest news in all history, yet most who hear it will never come to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Why would someone reject the free offer of forgiveness and salvation? Is something wrong with the message? Is it too confrontational, or just out of step with modern sensitivities? Should we be mute on the subjects of sin and repentance, and focus instead on marketing the benefits of Christ to those who have no real interest in submitting their life to God? Many Christian leaders wrestle endlessly with the problem of how to draw people in to the Church, though the answer is clear in the Parable of the Sower. The gospel alone is the power of God for salvation, and His Word perfectly accomplishes all of His will. As we preach the gospel to every man, hearts are revealed. Some flatly reject it, while others leave it when afflictions come or they must choose between Christ and the world. The hope of salvation depends not on the messenger, but the condition of the heart that hears.
