Responding to Ministry Conflict: Ungodly Desires, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Responding to Ministry Conflict Topic: Self-Righteousness Passage: Matthew 12:38–45

There is no more tragic example of ruin than the man whose profession of faith is really unbelief in disguise. It’s terrifying to think that we could consider ourselves a child of God, a beneficiary of the riches of eternal life, a laborer in service to the Kingdom, and yet be opposed to Christ and a stranger to the gracious promises of God. Yet such was the case for the Pharisees. In abject unbelief, in hope of proving that Jesus was a fraud, they demanded a sign from Him. Though He had healed the lame, restored sight to the blind, and even raised the dead, these unbelieving men still demanded more. They were too consumed with satisfying their own prideful desires to humble themselves and seek the truth, and so the only sign they would receive would be the greatest sign of all; the resurrection of Christ Himself. Have your own lusts and pride blinded you to the truth? What are you fighting to keep that could be more valuable than eternal life? Repent and believe the Word of God.
