Responding to Christ: Doubt, Part 2
Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Responding to Christ Topic: Doubt Passage: Matthew 11:7–15
Even the most devoted Christians can struggle with doubt. John the Baptist was willing to live an austere and hard life, maligned by the religious and ruling authorities for his message. Yet when God providentially shut away this bold young prophet into a prison where he could no longer preach the Kingdom of God, John’s faith was tested and he began to doubt. The same can easily be true for any one of us. We may be satisfied with little material comfort, but sorely tested if our character is called into question. Or we may bear beautifully the hard work of ministry, but think it unjust if our efforts are unappreciated. Every station of life and ministry, great or small, will be attended by hardships where we may be tempted to doubt God and grow cold and idle, wondering how we can be useful when our plans have been thwarted. But take heart, Christian, and be bold and confident in Christ! It matters not if the sky falls or the mountains crumble, because the Word of our God stands forever.
