The Kingdom’s Critical Mission: Understand the Purpose, Part 2

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: The Kingdom's Critical Mission Topic: Healing Passage: Matthew 10:5–15

As we proclaim the gospel to our unbelieving friends, we must understand how Christ’s instructions to the twelve disciples apply to us. Our mission field is the whole earth, and our message is the simplicity and fullness of the gospel. But what about raising the dead and healing the sick? Should we expect those same powers to be at work in us? We do indeed demonstrate the work of God to a lost world, but it is displayed through God’s power to transform our hearts; not through miracles performed by our hands. Yes, the dead are still raised and the blind still regain their sight, for those without the Spirit of the living God are truly dead, and there is no blindness more crushing and profound than that of the man who is in darkness and yet thinks he sees. And like the twelve, we do not use the gospel for personal gain, but offer it freely- blessing those who receive it by faith, and warning all who reject God’s gracious offer of forgiveness through the work of His Son.
