The Kingdom’s Critical Mission: Follow the Example

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: The Kingdom's Critical Mission Passage: Matthew 10:1–4

The original twelve disciples are a wonderful example of how God uses different kinds of personalities to accomplish His work. Peter was aggressive, confident, and impulsive. His brother Andrew was less brash, and more affable and approachable. James the son of Zebedee was passionate, but desired greatness, and John was zealous for the truth but was ambitious like his brother. Among the rest could be found men who were gentle, plain spoken, fearful, pragmatic, and possessed of every trait and peculiarity under the sun. Yet as this odd collection of men followed Christ and submitted their lives to the truth, God used them to put His power mightily on display. Like the disciples, each of us hails from different backgrounds and life experience, and has different strengths and weaknesses, but we preach the very same gospel that united and motivated them. Though it is ridiculed and rejected, this gospel brings forgiveness, healing, hope, and peace with God. Can God use one such as you in His work? Indeed He can, if you will follow the faithful example of these men.
