Pass the Baton

Pastor: Pastor Steve Smith Series: Special Topic Topic: Discipleship Passage: 2 Timothy 2:1–7

The Scriptures declare that the Word of God is eternal, and that all of its purposes will be accomplished. The Lord is not dependent upon men to bring His promises to fruition, but He does use us in this marvelous work as we entrust His Word to other faithful men who will carry on the work of gospel ministry. Just as the Apostle Paul chose Timothy to carry on the work of ministry, so we too must seek out men who themselves are able to teach, who find their strength in the inexhaustible grace of Jesus Christ, and who rely solely on the power of the Scriptures to change and transform hearts. Such men have a burning desire to make God known, to see Him worshipped and adored, and to lead and exhort the next generation to love and obey the Savior and Creator of all things. And lest we believe ourselves exempt from this great work because we are not a pastor or missionary, remember that we are all called to exhort and encourage one another in the truth.
