God's Prescription for Spiritual Stability

Pastor: Pastor Eric Borgstrom Series: Special Topic Topic: Faith Passage: Philippians 4:4–7

Are you ruled by your circumstances? Despair will inevitably dominate when we trust or hope in something other than God. We fear loss, confuse wants with needs, and become subject to our emotions, resulting in a spiral of spiritual instability. How can you cultivate a godly heart attitude through even the most trying of times? Learn to rejoice based on what you believe rather than how you feel. Strive to maintain a gentle and forbearing spirit in every circumstance, demonstrating a humble trust in God. Remember that the Lord is near, and is both willing and fully able to strengthen you in times of persecution, mistreatment, or suffering. Resist the sinful worry that can beset us when we engage in endless speculation and contemplation of impending misfortune. Finally, make your requests known to God with a heart of gratitude. Be anxious for nothing, but pray through everything! And as you do, remember that His will is that you walk by faith, not by sight. Spiritual stability comes as we trust when all we have to cling to is His Word.
