Jesus the Healer, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Topic: Faith Passage: Matthew 8:1–17

Matthew clearly documents the Jewish religious leaders’ rejection of Jesus. He was not what they expected or wanted Messiah to be, though the proofs that Jesus was the promised Son of David were numerous and unmistakable. This should cause us to carefully reflect on our own view of Jesus Christ. Do we merely admire and appreciate Him, or do we worship and follow Him? We cannot approach Jesus as a great Teacher who had some measure of wisdom, but rather as God incarnate, Savior of the world, and King. Like the leper who endured shame and public humiliation to find the healing he longed for, we too must humbly recognize our desperate situation and lowly position. We must be painfully aware of our sin, be willing to bear any cost or scorn to find the remedy, recognize the futility of our own efforts and the emptiness of man-made religions, and seek hope and healing in Christ alone. He calls you still and there is yet time. Will you harden your heart or bow the knee?
