The Keys to Persistent Prayer: Ask, Seek, Knock

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 7:7–11

To some, God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility seem irreconcilable. How can God orchestrate all things down to the minutest detail, and yet not violate the will of His creatures? Difficult as this may be to comprehend, this paradox is actually demonstrated every time we bow the knee in prayer. We approach God in our own human will looking for His provision and direction, but we are motivated by faith in His ability to sovereignly act in our time of need. How are we to pray? Christ says that we are to persevere. We are to ask the Father for whatever we require, trusting that all who ask will receive. We are to seek God, knowing that we will find all our needs fulfilled in Him. And when we find our way apparently blocked by a closed door, we are to continue to knock, believing that no prayer offered in faith is wasted, that God may yet open the door and grant our request, and that whatever outcome He provides will be an expression of His perfect timing and care.
