Communicating the Truth with Wisdom: Share Not, Part 2

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 7:1–6

There is a right way and a wrong way to proclaim the truth. We must be careful to judge by God’s standard rather than our own, and our hearts must be made tender by honest self-evaluation according to those same biblical standards. If we speak without concern for wisdom, or correct others apart from being humbled under the truth ourselves, we may actually add to our own judgment. How can we be wise when confronting sin? Look for patterns of sin rather than minor incidents. Don’t assume motives, let the Scriptures bring conviction, and know when not to proclaim the truth. We are not to share what is holy with those who mock the truth or are openly hostile to it unless God clearly calls us to such a situation, or it is apparent that someone has come to a moment of genuine openness. Do you desire to speak the truth and see unbelievers come to Christ? Then speak it wisely and from a pure heart, and in all of the ways and circumstances that God commands and providentially provides.
