Communicating the Truth with Wisdom: Judge Not, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 7:1–6

Have you ever heard the truth presented wrongly? A message of hope pronounced in anger, or a warning of judgment given with little regard for those in peril? Though Christians must always speak the truth, we should also remember that God cares very much how we communicate it. Jesus said that we are not to judge others. He did not mean that we are never to confront sin, but rather that we are to speak truth into someone’s life with wisdom and love. We are to carefully expose error, neither shrinking back from what God has said nor adding our standards of righteousness to His own. And we are to humbly tend to the significant sins in our own heart before we point out the minor transgressions of our brother. How can you handle the truth in a way that honors God? Cultivate a heart that seeks to be changed by the truth, and you’ll develop a voice that speaks it with wisdom.
