Redemption and Restoration
Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Ruth Passage: Ruth 4:1–22
God shows His loving care for us in many ways, but that doesn’t mean that we can be idle or self-serving as we wait upon deliverance. Consider the final act of Ruth’s story. She had acted faithfully in approaching Boaz, yet one final obstacle remained before Naomi and Ruth would find full redemption. Boaz had to offer the right of first refusal to the closer male relative. Boaz, Ruth, and Naomi were intent on following the proper course, and each was equally intent on doing good to the others. What was the result? God in His kindness provided an abundant redemption. Not only would the rightful possession of Naomi be restored and a son born to carry on the family name, but Ruth the Moabite would find a happy home among God’s people, and even be included in the family line of Jesus Christ. The lesson for us is clear. We can trust the ways and wisdom of God in all situations, which frees us to resolve every matter righteously, upholding both love and integrity.
