Providence and Responsibility

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Ruth Passage: Ruth 3:1–18

Though the bright lights of God’s mercies always line our path, we often don’t notice them until they stand out against the dark backdrop of trials. Such was the case with Naomi. Famine and loss had brought her to the brink of utter despair, but in the process of time the truth of God’s love and concern became undeniably clear. As Naomi selflessly cared for Ruth’s welfare, God graciously provided for the needs of both women through the kindness and integrity of Boaz. Yet just as the promise of redemption was in sight, they had to again wait upon the Lord as Boaz rightly gave the nearer relative the opportunity to marry Ruth. God often works in this way, teaching us dependence as we wait through one last uncertainty before we experience full and final deliverance. Are you living through a time of personal trial or turmoil? Wait patiently upon the Lord, look with gratitude on the mercies He’s placed along your way, and trust that He will deliver you at the proper time.
