The Lord's Prayer, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 6:9–15

Prayer is hard. We know we need to pray, but we often find it difficult to stay attentive or even to begin at all. Even the disciples acknowledged their need for help when they asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Yet in both His example and His teaching, Jesus made clear that prayer is central to our spiritual life. So how should we pray? What should we say? What things are off limits, and what should be our primary concern? Remember that effective prayer is a matter of approaching God in the Spirit, and speaking from the heart. There is no prescribed model to repeat, no preferred posture that brings you closer to God, and no place of prayer that makes your petitions more acceptable to Him. As you approach the throne of grace, remember that prayer is intimate communion between you and the Lord. It is a time to align your will with His, cast your burdens at His feet, and seek both reconciliation and provision from our heavenly Father.
