The Birth of The King

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Matthew Passage: Matthew 1:18–1:25

For nearly two thousand years men have accused Christ of being Mary’s illegitimate son, and from the First Century to the present day, the Church has consistently defended the Doctrine of the Virgin Birth. But is the Virgin Birth necessary to genuine biblical faith? To rule as Messiah, Christ had to be an heir to the throne of King David. Joseph the carpenter traced his line back to David, but there was a seemingly insurmountable problem in Joseph’s lineage. God cursed King Jeconiah because of his evil, swearing that none of his descendants would sit on David’s throne. Had Jesus been Joseph’s natural son, He would be disqualified from the throne. However, through the Virgin Birth, God preserved Jesus’ right to rule by making Him the legal son of Joseph, but not his blood relative. Miracles may offend the darkened human mind, but is it unreasonable that an Almighty God has such sovereignty over nature? The Virgin Birth is true, and it is necessary to saving faith in Jesus Christ. We not only believe it, we unashamedly proclaim it. What do you believe?
