The Christian's Worthy Walk: Corporate Transformation, Part 4

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Ephesians Passage: Ephesians 4:7–4:16

Our culture strains against the idea of authority. Children rebel against parents, citizens despise their government, and these attitudes have even found their way into the Church. Though not all leaders are wise and not all rule well, we must remember that all authority is derived from God. He does not give it for the benefit of the rulers, but for the protection and provision of those whom they rule. This should be best exemplified in the Church, where servant leaders govern by His Word rather than their own will and exhort people to obey God’s Word and evidence their love for Christ. But who keeps an eye on Church leaders? Elders can and must hold one another accountable to the truth, but ultimately they are accountable to God Himself. What does the exercise of godly authority look like in the Church? Look for leaders who live under a healthy fear of God and who submit their will to His, and for people who honor God by submitting to His shepherds, and you’ll find a local church where God’s blessings are on display.
