Worship through Prayer, Part 5

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Ephesians Passage: Ephesians 1:18–1:19

If God is in control, then why pray? Does God need our wisdom? The fact is that God is in perfect control of all things and needs no one's counsel, and yet Scripture makes clear that we are to pray. But our prayers are not to be selfish demands or finite counsel given to an infinitely wise God. Instead, the prayers of the mature should reflect God's desires and fully acknowledge His perfect wisdom. When we ask for a greater understanding of His character and plan, our requests of Him will be more in line with that truth. Our desires will become conformed to His and we will pray according to the ultimate reasons that He called us out out of darkness: so that we would be increasingly transformed into a holy people who trust Him and walk faithfully before Him, and that we would abide in Christ with peace and confidence, knowing His abundant power to help us endure to the end.
