The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares, Part 1

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: The Parables Topic: Evil Passage: Matthew 13:24–30, Genesis 13:36–43

No question troubles man more than how evil can exist if God is both good and all-powerful. Often this is posed as a foolish challenge to God’s character and power. Yet Scripture does give an answer to those with ears to hear. All men are born enemies of God. The Lord graciously saves whom He wills, and so the children of God and the children of Satan will exist side-by-side until the day when God judges the living and the dead. In the meantime, the Lord patiently endures the mocking and corruption of his image, and even allows attempts by false teachers and evil workers to attack and divide His Church. We see this in every age as Satan uses lies to oppose the work of God. How should the faithful believer respond? Be discerning and steadfast! The purposes of God are not hindered by evil, nor are His plans changed an iota. Satan will always attack, confuse, and accuse; but while God is longsuffering, He is not slack. Press on then in confidence, and rest in your perfect hope!
