Responding to Ministry Conflict: Ungodly Desires, Part 2

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Responding to Ministry Conflict Topic: Hypocrisy Passage: Matthew 12:38–45

If we fail to uphold the grace and holiness of God, the Church can become a breeding ground for “almost Christians” who are nothing more than religious unbelievers. They may understand certain truths about God, but their hearts are far from Him because they have cultivated external reformation without ever seeking transformation of the inner man. How can you recognize the almost-Christian? His changes are always motivated by his passions rather than the truth, and his focus is only on those things that can be observed by men. The religious unbeliever exults in temporary victories that soothe his conscience, but he inevitably returns to the dross of his sinful practices. He publicly defends the truth, but privately he lives a life of secret shame. What can we do to guard against religious unbelief in our own life? Trust wholly and solely in the Savior who does not forsake His own, then fill your life with Him, striving to walk in the Spirit, making no provision for the flesh, and seeking God’s presence in prayer, study, and fellowship with His people.
