Running the Race with Endurance

Pastor: Pastor Eric Borgstrom Series: Special Topic Topic: Faith Passage: Hebrews 12:1–2

Some think of holiness as something that all Christians should pursue, but not something that all Christians must pursue. Yet there can be no confidence of our conversion if there is no evidence of our sanctification. What can you do to make certain your faith grows and endures? First, remember the saints who have gone before you. Scripture and Church history are replete with examples of those who have endured in the face of persecution and trials of every kind. It’s important to recognize that their ability to persevere was not in themselves, but solely in the power and the promises of the God whom we all serve. Second, commit to removing any hindrance to holiness, and willingly lay aside every weight that could slow you in this race. Not all things that are permissible are necessarily profitable, and we must desire the growth of our faith more than the full exercise of our freedoms. Finally, we must fix our eyes on Jesus Christ, knowing that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it.
