Jesus chose partners for His ministry of outreach, giving them five different calls with regard to that work. He called them to salvation, to be His witnesses, to engage in full-time gospel ministry, and to be His disciples. Finally, He called them to be His apostles and sent them to preach the gospel to the world, performing miracles that attested to the truth of both their calling and their message. The call to apostleship was unique to the time of Christ, but the call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ is a message that every Christian of every era has the privilege to speak. Even so, evangelism can be difficult. We may worry about our persuasiveness, or fear outright rejection. When you witness to the truth of Christ, remember that the gospel is not an invitation to consider, but a command to be obeyed. Proclaim it in its fullness and simplicity, boldly calling sinners to believe and submit their lives to their God, Savior, and King.
