Out With the Old, and in With the New, Part 3

Pastor: Pastor Marc Wragg Series: Ephesians Passage: Ephesians 4:17–4:24

From the moment we first trusted Christ, our sinful nature was removed and replaced with a new nature that longs for righteousness. Yet this new nature is incarcerated in a fallen flesh that is familiar with evil, and so we begin a lifelong spiritual battle with sin. As we grow in Christ, we see the darkness of our sin ever more clearly, and therefore better understand our need for radical and ongoing transformation. We are called to live a distinct life of holiness according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we’ve been enabled to live out the Gospel through God’s work of regeneration. As you’ve been called and empowered, so do. Lay aside the old self, and put off the practices to which you were once enslaved. You’ve been renewed and freed to pursue a life of faith and obedience that pleases the Lord. Are you struggling with old, sinful practices? If you have been born again to new life, know that your old nature is dead and gone. Seek Christ, listen to Christ, and put on the new practices that reflect the God you love and serve.
